Sermon preached in response to the ELCA convention. Text: The book of Jonah and John 14: 15-21
Life is filled with blessings and obstacles, triumph and frustration, victory and defeat - and, in the end of these temporal years,
we face the ultimate enemy - death. Throughout these temporal years, God is always faithful to His promise to always
be with us - never more than a prayer's distance from us. And, in the end, true to His Word,
God is there to conquer our
ultimate enemy and to make our lives and our relationship to our Creator eternal.
From the very beginning of the universe God created, our Creator had a definite plan and design. It was a plan and
design which included basic and foundation relationships between God and His creatures and between members
of the human species He created.
What is a Christian? The answer to that question lies in our understanding of Faith and Salvation.
This Reformation Sunday sermon attempts to define how God-given Faith and Salvation make people Christians.
